White Bread - No Knead

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2/3 cup grape nuts
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 package yeast (instant or active dry)
  • 3 cups cool water
  • Directions

    1. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl and stir in water until well blended.
    2. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and leave in a warm place to rise for at least 12 hours (16-18 hours is better). To make this easy and to avoid having to use a new piece of plastic wrap each time, I cover the bowl with a plastic shower cap.
    3. Heat oven to 450 degrees and put the dutch oven in to heat.
    4. Dump the dough ball onto slightly floured parchment paper.
    5. Once hot, remove the pot from the oven place the parchment paper inside.
    6. Cover the pot and bake for 30 minutes.
    7. Remove the lid and bake another 15 to 20 minutes or until the loaf is nicely browned.
    8. Remove from oven and cool on rack.
